Uist energy in motion is a project to encourage people to use electric vehicles for journeys in Uist . The project has a few spokes to its wheel!
1 -To educate people in Uist about carbon emissions and how electric vehicles could reduce carbon footprint on the islands.
2- Promote electric vehicles and inform islanders about the grants / interest free loans currently available for purchase of vehicles and home charge points.
3- A schools project to encourage youngsters to think about climate challenge issues and the benefits of electric vehicles as an alternative form of transport.
4- Develop a owners forum for current EV owners on the islands to share experiences and encourage future development.
5- Install 2 new rapid chargers on the island one in North and one in South to facilitate charging vehicles throughout the islands.
6- Electric vehicle testing events for people to come and try an electric vehicle , this is coupled with fuel efficiency training suitable for all types of vehicles.
UEIM have come and try an EV event on Wednesday 3rd. October 2-8pm in Lochmaddy and Saturday 11 till 3 pm in Lochmaddy if anyone wishes to test drive the new BMW i3 free of charge!!
