Tighean Innse Gall were appointed by NHS Western Isles in late 2017 to deliver a major insulation upgrade programme to various NHS owned properties including the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway and the Uist and Barra hospital in Balivanich, along with the NHS branch surgeries throughout the Western Isles. The total amount of insulation used if spread out would cover 2 football pitches.
“NHS Western Isles would like to extend their thanks to Tighean Innse Gall (TIG) for their contribution to energy saving work carried out across properties owned by NHS Western Isles. This included calculating the potential energy and carbon savings to be made as a consequence of installing insulation in all our buildings. This is a really good example of a local agency working with the Health Board to improve efficiency” Nurse Director, Chrisanne Campbell
TIG were delighted to have the opportunity to assist NHS Western Isles in achieving greater energy efficiency in the two hospitals and surgeries with early feedback from staff who noticed a difference once the properties had been completed . The programme was completed in early 2018 on budget and on time by TIG. The work was completed by TIG’s two installers, Iain Murray and Bobby Mowat. The installers laid insulation in all loft spaces where needed, ensured walk ways were clear and ladders were fit to the access points for future access to the loft spaces.
“TIG were happy to be able to assist the NHS in this Insulation update. We hope it helps lower the energy costs within the NHS and makes the hospitals more comfortable during winter times. Our Installers were very efficient in their work and managed to complete all jobs with minimal disruption to patients.” Stewart Wilson, TIG CEO.
