A Tablet for the Patient
A Tablet for the Patient uses technology to demonstrate what adaptations can be achieved to make a home more accessible, safe and affordably warm. We have made short films to show patients, their friends and family the process of installing things like adapted walk in showers, wheelchair ramps, insulation and new heating systems. The films are shown to people in their homes, hospital or care home on tablet computers, or online for family and friends via Facebook and Youtube.
We do this to help offer peace of mind to people, who may not have seen this type of work conducted before, by showing the process of what will happen during works. If people have relatives who live far away, this offers a great chance for them to understand what is happening at their loved ones homes.
We are grateful to the TEC Ready programme, and the Scottish Government for funding this initiative. We are also grateful to colleagues appearing in film, Domhnall MacSween for the voiceovers, as well as Luke Wilson for all things film making.
